Brisbane continues its post-flood dredging

2011-06-07 00:00:00

Work is continuing on one of the Port of Brisbane’s largest ever annual maintenance dredging campaigns, following the devastating Queensland flood crisis.

The floods deposited more than 1m cu m of material into the channels and berths (on top of what is usually removed), and this has added several extra months of work to the dredging schedule.

The port’s dredger, the Brisbane, is almost half-way through the schedule, and by the end of June the channel and berths should be restored to pre-flood depths.

The port’s hydrographic surveyors are now onto their sixth round of surveys following the floods, and will continue to monitor depths as dredging is completed.
